Crypto Casino Safety Checklist: 12 Checks Before You Deposit
18+ only. Contains affiliate links — we may earn a commission. Not for residents of the US, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Australia, Ontario or Vietnam. Not legal or financial advice.
Crypto transactions are hard to reverse, so checking before you deposit matters more than usual. Use this list for any site, including the ones we review. Nothing here is a guarantee: gambling always carries a risk of loss, and 18+ only.
Who is it and who regulates it?
- Find the operator’s legal name and licence number. Reputable sites show them in the footer and terms. Example: Mint.io’s terms name Sage Shark Ltd (Costa Rica) and Anjouan licence ALSI-202507035-FI2 (Terms).
- Check the regulator’s own page, not just the badge. The Curaçao Gaming Authority publishes certificates of operation; the Anjouan register lists licences. A logo alone proves nothing.
- Know what the licence covers. Offshore licences differ in how much player protection and dispute handling they provide. Understand that your recourse may be limited.
Rules that affect your money
- Read the withdrawal terms. Look for wagering requirements on deposits, KYC triggers, limits, fees and timing. Mint, for example, requires the deposit to be wagered at least once and says KYC, source-of-funds and wallet-control checks may apply (withdrawal guide).
- Read the bonus terms if you take any bonus: max bet, excluded games, expiry.
- Check restricted countries. Playing from a prohibited territory can mean voided winnings. Do not rely on a VPN to get around a block; read KYC explained.
- Use only wallets and accounts that are yours. Many terms (including Mint’s) prohibit third-party wallets and may freeze funds if you break this.
Technical hygiene
- Confirm the exact URL and bookmark it. Fake clones and ads are common. Our link to Mint goes through /go/mint, but always check the address bar and never enter a seed phrase anywhere: legitimate sites do not ask for it.
- Turn on two-factor authentication if offered, and use a unique password.
- Match asset and network before sending. Sending USDT on the wrong network can lose funds permanently. See how to deposit USDT and withdrawing USDT.
Protect yourself from yourself
- Set limits first. Deposit, loss and session limits and cooling-off periods exist at Mint (per its terms). Decide your budget before you play and do not top up to chase losses.
- Start small and test the exit. Deposit a small amount, play a little, and make a small withdrawal to confirm it works.
Red flags
- No named operator or licence, or a licence you cannot find on a regulator page.
- Pressure to deposit quickly, “guaranteed” returns, or “no rules” promises.
- Support that pushes you to use a different wallet or contact via private messages.
- Rewards or tokens that promise fixed returns.
Also remember
Provably fair or certified games show that results are fair, not that the operator is solvent. See provably fair explained. If gambling is causing harm, use our responsible gambling page and local support services.
Frequently asked questions
Does a licence guarantee a casino is safe?
No. A licence means a regulator has granted permission and may supervise the operator, but protection and enforcement vary widely by regulator. Treat it as one check among many.
How much should I deposit first?
Only an amount you can afford to lose entirely. Many players test with a small deposit and a small withdrawal before committing more.
