Brazil's 30 October crypto licence deadline: what exchange users should know

Published · CryptoPlay Guide Editorial Team

Crypto exchanges that were already operating in Brazil when the new rules took effect on 2 February 2026 have until Friday, 30 October 2026 to file the first stage of their authorisation request with the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), according to POD Cripto News. The rules come mainly from BCB Resolutions 519 and 520, published in November 2025 (same source).

What happens to exchanges that do not file

Under Article 88 of Resolution BCB 520, providers that miss the deadline have up to 30 days to stop offering regulated services such as trading, intermediation and custody, as summarised by The BTC Portal. Counting from 30 October, that window ends around 29 November 2026. It is a wind-down period, not an extension to apply.

Exiting firms must tell customers clearly how to withdraw or transfer their balances, for example to another exchange or to a self-custody wallet (POD Cripto News).

Who has filed so far

  • Binance said it filed on 23 October through its Brazilian entity. The application is pending, and a filing is not an authorisation. Since 27 October, users in Brazil can no longer open new positions in eight products, including Loans, Margin and Launchpool, and 22 tokens were delisted for Brazilian users; balances can still be withdrawn (Binance FAQ, Unchained via Yahoo Finance).
  • Ripio announced on 27 October that it had filed (The BTC Portal). It has also announced product changes for Brazilian customers that differ between its apps; according to Ripio’s own notice, Ripio Trade stops trading and Pix deposits on 29 October and closes on 30 November. Check Ripio’s notices for the app you use.

What it means for users in Brazil

If you hold crypto or reais on an exchange in Brazil, read its official notices this week, note any trading or withdrawal deadlines and keep statements and receipts, as POD Cripto News recommends. Leaving large balances on any platform is a risk, regulated or not; our safety checklist covers the basic checks. This article is information, not legal or financial advice.
