MintBears is the NFT collection linked to Mint’s $MNTD token. This page summarises what the official $MNTD whitepaper says (Section 12). It is information, not a recommendation to buy anything. Related: MINT Status levels & staking and the $MNTD token guide.
The collection
- 4,444 Bears, ERC-721, on Robinhood Chain (the same network as $MNTD). 222 are retained by the project.
- Free mint, subject to a whitelist and published mint mechanics, scheduled for late October 2026 through getminted.io (per the whitepaper; check official channels for the current status).
- Artwork stored fully on chain, with on-chain royalty validation.
Tier upgrades paid in $MNTD
A Bear starts with no tier. Holders unlock Tier 0 with a first payment, then upgrade in order up to Tier 4. The whitepaper lists these as initial launch parameters, subject to change:
| Tier | Cumulative $MNTD paid | Rewards pool weight |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 0 | 1,666 | 1.00 |
| Tier 1 | 3,333 | 1.25 |
| Tier 2 | 8,333 | 1.45 |
| Tier 3 | 16,666 | 1.70 |
| Tier 4 | 41,666 | 2.00 |
Half of every upgrade payment is burned and half goes to the protocol. Neither half is recoverable. The upgrade mechanism was described as disabled until its independent security review completes.
Tiers reset on transfer
Any change of ownership strips the tier and every boost. The whitepaper warns holders to treat an upgrade as spending $MNTD, not as value stored in a resellable asset.
What a Bear can do
- Rewards pool: Bears activated on mint.io at Tier 0 or higher share a pool funded by secondary-market royalties plus part of trading fees from $MNTD markets. Payouts are split by tier weight, half in ETH and half in $MNTD by value, and can expire if unclaimed. No amount or frequency is promised, and a round can close with little or nothing.
- Status boost: one Bear linked to a MINT account can boost that account’s Status reward rates. Only one counts per account, so extra Bears do not stack.
- Raffles: each Bear carries one entry per round in mystery-box raffles from a separate prize vault.
Risks
- Burned and protocol-paid $MNTD cannot be refunded, and the tier disappears on sale.
- Pool distributions depend entirely on royalty and trading activity and may be small or zero.
- Claims only work through mint.io, which is blocked in several countries (see the Mint.io review). Holders in a restricted place or with an ineligible account cannot claim.
- Planned features can change, be delayed or be cancelled. Contracts may contain vulnerabilities even after audit.
- Fake mint sites are common around NFT launches. Use only addresses and links announced on official channels.

Frequently asked questions
How many MintBears are there?
4,444, of which 222 are retained by the project and not distributed to third parties, according to the whitepaper.
Does an upgraded MintBear keep its tier when sold?
No. Any transfer, including back to a previous owner, removes the tier and its boosts. A buyer receives a Bear with no tier.
Can I claim MintBears rewards from anywhere?
No. Rewards pool allocations can only be claimed through a mint.io account, which is restricted in some jurisdictions and subject to eligibility checks.
